The play follows a series of interplanetary phone calls between a father living on Earth and his daughter living on Mars. The story unfolds in the year 2077, a time when humanity has colonized Mars while Earth is becoming increasingly uninhabitable. Adama Diop plays the father, and Alison Deschamps plays the daughter.
The stage is rotating and divided into two symbolic halves – Earth and Mars – representing the differences between the two planets. The actors will not be able to see each other, but the audience will view them alternately thanks to the rotation. This will create a sense of orbital motion, affecting both the lighting and soundscape of the performance.
Actors will speak only when they are visible to the audience, giving the text a rhythmic structure that alternates between realistic and poetic passages.
Sound plays a key role, portraying the constant communication and rotation. Lighting will highlight the visible and hidden sides of the planets. Costumes will depict everyday clothing from the year 2077, intentionally avoiding futuristic clichés.
